Hello Southern Lakes Members! Welcome back to Mortgage Monday with me, Shelly, your local Mortgage Loan Officer at your local lender, Southern Lakes Credit Union! Today’s topic is: Home buying in the winter.
It is a well-known fact that home sales drop in the winter. Many buyers and sellers wait for more temperate weather and for school to enter Summer break. But that does not mean that winter is a bad time to buy. In fact, because there is less competition out there, it could actually be to your advantage! Here are a few reasons why home buying in the winter is an excellent time to buy:
- Less competition could mean a better price for you. Without all the cash offers and multiple offers flying around, you could find a seller who’s more willing to work with you.
- You will view the home at a time when itis most stressed. Our cold climate really puts our homes to the test. On a cold day you can really see if the home is drafty, or how well the furnace is working. You can also look for any water or drain issues.
- Undivided attention from your home buying team. With fewer clients, your Realtor, lender, and others involved in your home purchase will have more time to give you their undivided attention.
